New Teacher for the Salmonberry Garden

by admin on June 20, 2009

Dear Salmonberry Garden Families,

I am delighted to announce the hiring of our new Early Childhood teacher beginning in the fall of 2009. Some of you have already met Linda Ellsworth when she visited the Garden classroom on Wednesday. The Hiring Committee had a fabulous visit with Linda and was extremely impressed by her carefully crafted sample lessons, her warmth and presence with individual children, her ability to easily and gracefully hold the entire group through circle times and crafts, her articulate presentation with adults, her maturity and experience. I am personally thrilled to work with Linda as a colleague, and I am so happy for your children who will be nurtured and guided by such a strong and gifted teacher.

Linda comes to us with 20 years of teaching experience. The majority of her work was at the Phinney Ridge Neighborhood Co-op Preschool, in Seattle, where she worked for 16 years. She also has experience working with elementary age learners at various levels. She has a long term association with The Little School in Bellevue, and has taught there as well. She is the mother of two grown children, a Morris Dancer, a bird watcher and a reptile enthusiast.

Linda will be returning to Salmonberry on this Tuesday, June 23, from 1:00-3:00 for a “Meet the Teacher Tea.” Please join me in welcoming Linda into our community and enjoying some snacks and refreshments with friends and family. This will be an informal occasion and children are most definitely welcome.

Thanks for your patience with our process with this hire. The committee has been working very hard for a long time, has processed dozens of applications, and met with a number of highly qualified candidates. I truly believe you will find the outcome to be well worth the wait.

Paul
