June 29, 2020 - July 3, 2020
Camp cost is $200.
Ecology means “home” and our body is the first home we have. Dance is a wonderful way to know our bodies and relate to the nature we live and breathe with. Campers explore the elements of dance including speed, energy and shape and experience how they are alive in the nature around us. Each day includes dance improvisation games, movement skills, a nature obstacle course and opportunities to create their own choreography. Imagine a dance that brings to life how trees communicate, the growing process of a garden, or the ebb and flow of the tides! Campers also enjoy unstructured free time for art, outdoor play and breaks for snack and lunch. Camp culminates with an informal showing for families.
This camp will take place entirely outside on the Salmonberry campus and will likely include some walking trips to nearby venues like the Village Green stage and the beach. In a backpack, please send your child with a hearty snack and lunch, sturdy shoes, and sunscreen/hat each day. Indoor use of the bathroom facilities and water refills will be permitted. Daily temperature scans and health checklist required. Personal water bottle, hand sanitizer, and clean mask are required each day. 6 foot distancing. Masks required when within 6 feet. Hourly hand-washing. 2 week on island quarantine prior to start of camp is required for any off-island campers. Contact Laura at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions. We are thrilled to collaborate with professional dancer and dance educator, Hayley Shannon. Visit her website HERE to learn more about Hayley. This camp will run daily Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM with drop-off and pick-up at Salmonberry School.
