Annually, Salmonberry holds school on Martin Luther King Jr. Day to pay tribute to the life and legacy to Martin Luther King Jr. Students spend the day actively engaged in service learning opportunities that benefit our island community, and inside the classroom we prioritize contemplative learning to contextualize Dr. King and the Civil Rights movement he and many others championed. The intention of sharing this special day of remembrance together is exactly to keep the dream of Martin Luther King Jr. alive as we strive to understand and positively impact today’s challenges around injustice and inequity, both in this country and around the world.
