Student Crafted Four Seasons Fiber Art Piece
The students of the Salmon class (Pre-K & Kinder) chose to design a scene depicting a landscape inspired by their island home as it moves through the four seasons of the year. Using roving wool, locally sourced from Lum Farm, students wet felted these four scenes. Teachers focused children’s attention on the colors seen at different times of year and noticed how the sun appears smaller in winter than in summer. Ratios of foreground, middle ground, and back ground balance these compositions and were a cornerstone of students’ learning.
The Salmon found this art form to be fun, exciting, and a lot of hard work!
